What to Expect at Your First Boudoir Session
Most people arrive feeling some version of nervous. Not the kind of nervous that makes you want to cancel - more the kind that comes with doing something a little out of your ordinary. Something that's entirely for you.
Here's an honest account of what a session with us actually feels like, from the moment you enquire to the moment you see your finished images.
Before you arrive: the consultation
A week or two before your session, we'll have a 30-minute video call. It's relaxed - more of a get-to-know-each-other than a formal briefing. We'll talk about what drew you to boudoir, what you're hoping to get from it, and what you're thinking of wearing. If you have specific looks in mind, brilliant. If you haven't given it much thought, we'll help you figure it out.
By the end of the call, you'll have a clear sense of what the session will look like - and, more importantly, you'll have met us. That alone tends to take the edge off.
The morning of your session
This is often when nerves peak. You're getting ready, second-guessing your outfit choices, wondering if you should have booked it at all. This is completely normal. We'd be surprised if you arrived feeling anything other than a little jittery.
Pack your outfits, eat a proper meal (you'll feel better for it), and give yourself plenty of time to get here without rushing.
Arriving
When you walk through the door, the first thing we do is nothing - nothing photography-related, anyway. We make you a drink, have a proper chat, and take our time settling in. There's no rushing you in front of the camera before you're ready.
Most people start to relax within the first ten or fifteen minutes. The conversation, the music, the unhurried atmosphere - it all works together. By the time we pick up the camera, the anticipation has usually softened into something closer to excitement.
During the session
We guide you through everything. You don't need to know what to do with your hands - we'll show you. You don't need to know your best angles - we'll find them. You don't need to perform or force an expression - we'll create moments where it happens naturally.
Every so often we'll turn the camera and show you a shot on the screen. That moment - seeing yourself the way the camera sees you - is usually when something shifts. Clients who arrived uncertain often become clients who don't want to stop.
After your session
Once we're done, you'll leave feeling - most people describe it as something between proud and a little giddy. There's usually a sense of "I can't believe I did that" in the best possible way.
Your preview gallery arrives within a week. When you sit down to look through your images for the first time, you'll probably feel that shift again - recognising yourself in a way that's unfamiliar and, for most people, unexpectedly moving.
This is why people do it.
